Observation Decks along the Michigan Avenue Corridor

Submitted by Jason Honeycutt, Lansing Resident

My idea is…

“…to set up 6 observation decks (3 in each direction) along the corridor. To get up to the decks have stairs and a lift. On the decks, place several coin-operated binocular viewers (like the ones at the Empire State Building). People will be able to see up and down the corridor for the cost of pocket change. For price estimate, see ‘Hi-Spy Viewing Machings” and/or http://www.seecoast.com. Once the actual platforms are built, other costs will be nominal.”

My idea contributes to a vibrant community by…

“…helping to expand peoples’ vision, allowing them to see more than they would normally be able to see. If Lansing is to grow into a city that has a population of, say, 200,000-250,000 people, the mindset has to change and be able to view the area as a bigger place. This is something that will help people see that.”
